How Can I Faith in a God Who Seems To Be Asleep At the Wheel

The disciples found themselves caught in a storm with a Jesus who was asleep in the back of the boat, seemingly not even caring that His friends were in trouble. Upon waking up, He chastised them for their lack of faith, but how can we be expected to faith in God during a storm if it appears that He is asleep at the wheel?
