As we look to the new year, this is a challenge to seek to be a “Praying Me in 23.” By looking at the Lord’s Prayer, we can see seven good reasons why growing our devotion to prayer matters to us. (Matthew 6.5-15) January 1, 2023.

The manger is empty. The cross is empty. The tomb is empty. But the Right Hand of God the Father is Majestically Occupied! What does it matter that Jesus sits at the right hand of God? It means that the work for our salvation is complete, that Jesus is now the perfect High Priest, and that we can trust in Him as we wait for His enemies to be made His footstool. (Hebrews 1.13) December 25, 2022

God’s people, expressing their faith in Scripture, put much emphasis on the truth that God is the Creator of all things, giving the gift of life and a soul to humans. But this truth doesn’t seem to impress or impact many followers of Christ today. However, Scripture affirms that God the Father created all things through the Son. How does our faith in Jesus as the agent of creation impact how we walk in faith today? Specifically, how does the Eternal Creator impact our answers to the Five Worldview Questions that every person must answer? (Hebrews 1.10-12) December 18, 2022

The angel told Mary that the child in her womb would be given the throne of his father David and will reign over the house of Jacob forever. This is why the writer of Hebrews proclaims the Son upholds the universe by the word of His power and uses Psalm 45 as the source for proclaiming the Son as the Eternal King. But what does it mean to confess Jesus as the King of kings and Lord of lords, especially when we pray for His kingly rule in this broken world? (Hebrews 1.8-9) December 11, 2022.

Who was that child wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger in Bethlehem so many years ago? The simple answer is “Baby Jesus,” but the writer of Hebrews, along with the angels, remind us that this child is the Son of God. The Scriptures teach us that the Son is both eternal and one with the Father and yet begotten by the Father? How can this be, and what difference does it make? (Hebrews 1.1-6) December 4, 2022

Why is the spiritual discipline of thanksgiving so important to our walk with Christ? Because thanksgiving is intrinsically connected to what we believe to be true about God, thanksgiving generates worship, and thanksgiving generates faith. (Romans 1 and Psalms 95) November 27, 2022

Most of the time, we approach the Lord’s Supper table through the lens of the Passover, and with good reason. But if all of the law points to Christ, and if Christ is the once for all sacrifice, then not only does the Passover point to Jesus but so does the Thanksgiving Sacrifice. When we come to the Table through the lens of the Thanksgiving Sacrifice, we discover that Christ not only delivers us from the snares of death in the tribulations of this world, but our individual moments of deliverance are a foretaste of the eternal deliverance we have in Christ. (Leviticus 7.11-15) November 20, 2022.

Part of walking in Christ is abounding in thanksgiving, but what does thanksgiving look like? How is it appropriately expressed? In Colossians 3, the apostle shows us that thanksgiving is verbally expressed as the overflow of a grateful heart that is demonstrated in our relationship with others. Most of us associate thanksgiving with the holiday we celebrate on the fourth Thursday in November. But for followers of Christ, thanksgiving should permeate all of our walk in Christ. In fact, we are called to abound in thanksgiving as we are rooted and built up in Christ. What exactly is thanksgiving, and what does it look like for thanksgiving to so permeate our lives that we abound in thanksgiving? (Colossians 2.1-7) November 6, 2022.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is truly amazing. Not only are we forgiven of our many sins by God's grace through the atoning death of Jesus, but we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit when we put our faith in Christ. The Holy Spirit is not only at work within us, transforming us into the image of Christ, but the Spirit is also at work through us to build up the body of Christ. With such an amazing gospel, why did Paul need to tell the church to use their spiritual gifts? Why wouldn't they be using their gifts as the natural overflow of their salvation? (Romans 12.3-8) October 30, 2022
