Resting in the Glorious Hope of ”That Day”

But this should not lead us to get lost in gloom and doom. The Gospel Truth About Money

Everyone has heard the truism that “Money can’t buy happiness,” but that is simply looking at money from a worldly perspective. The Scripture offers a deeper look at the treasures of this world through the lens of the gospel. Suffering For the Gospel By the Power of God

The apostle Paul encouraged Timothy to “suffer for the gospel by the power of God.” While we tend to equate “suffering for the gospel” with persecution, walking in faith through trials and tribulations is another form of suffering for the gospel by the power of God. That calling is defined by God’s divine eternal purpose to bring all things under the headship of Christ and empowered by His grace. The good news of Easter is that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised from the dead. Why is the Gospel Not Shameful?

The beauty and greatness of the gospel is so vast. One way to delight in the gospel is to see how Jesus bore our shame on the cross. Because of the cross, we are liberated from seeking honor from our earthly community and are welcomed into the most honorable community of all, the family of God. Three Truths and a Lie About the Judgment to Come

After giving instructions to Timothy on how to handle elders who needed to be rebuked, the apostle Paul reminded the church about a few important truths: there is a judgment day to come, our sins will find us out, and while no one will be saved by good works, there are good reasons to do good works.
