How does God’s divine eternal plan to create one household of faith impact how we think and feel about immigration? How do we think biblically about this important and divisive topic? Through Leviticus 19.33-34, we learn that the gospel is an immigration story, that God commands us to love the immigrant as ourselves, and that God is growing the church through immigration. (Leviticus 19.33-34) – September 29, 2019.

God is a God who practices steadfast love and justice in the earth, and He calls His people to work to loose the bonds of wickedness. Today, we take a look at the global bonds of wickedness, specifically, the darkness of modern day slavery and the soil in which it grows. And while these bonds look dark, there is a light rising in the darkness. And the people of God can and should be part of this rising light. (Isaiah 58.1-10) September 22, 2019

As hard as it is to confess, the white church in America has failed to embrace our black brothers and sisters in Christ as fellow citizens and members of the household of faith. Historically, we have built up the dividing wall of racism that Christ came to tear down. This morning, we try to do what Daniel did in his prayer, to confess the sins of our fathers. In doing so, we discover that racism is endemic to our sin nature, to have sympathy for the lasting impact of racism, to have a caring ear to the concerns of others, and to develop courage that the white church has historically lacked. (Daniel 9.3-8) September 15, 2019.

Racism has been the dividing wall of hostility among humanity since the fall of mankind in the Garden. But the good news of the gospel is that Jesus Christ has come to destroy that dividing wall and create one household of faith. However, this truth has always been hard for the church to fully embrace. Why is it so hard to rightly understand and rightly apply the gospel? (Galatians 2.1-16) September 8, 2019.

God’s divine eternal plan is to build one household of faith from every nation, every tribe, every people group, and every language through the atoning death of Jesus Christ on the Cross. But what is God’s strategy to get the message of the Cross to those who are far away from God? (Ephesians 2.11-22 and Romans 10.8-17) September 1, 2019

The Book of Kings ends in a weird way. After telling the story of the Fall of Jerusalem, the Book of Kings tells us about one insignificant king who only reigned for 3 months and wasn’t even the last king. But he was shown grace 37 years after his exile. This strange ending is meant to cause us to long for something more, something better? But who, or what, are we left longing for? King Josiah was perhaps the most righteous king since King David, and he walked in the ways of David, sharing David’s love for the Law of the Lord. And it was because Josiah’s heart was responsive to the Word of God that God blessed him. Through the story of Josiah, we are reminded that to neglect the Word of the Lord brings self-destruction, and that we need to handle the Word properly in order for it to transform our lives. Manasseh was both the most evil king to ever sit on the throne of Judah and also the poster child for God’s great mercy. Through this story, we learn that we cannot out sin God’s grace, that God’s mercy is creative and redemptive, that genuine repentance bears fruit, and that there is a great danger in delaying when God calls us to repentance. The writer of Kings summarizes King Hezekiah's life with a unique phrase: he trusted in the Lord. The life story of Hezekiah demonstrates what it means to trust in the Lord and why this is such hard faith work. (2 Kings 18-20) August 4, 2019

God removed Israel from the land of promise because they failed to be a people for His own possession and a kingdom of priests. And just like Israel, we find ourselves living in a diverse culture with many worldviews and religions. But followers of Christ are still called to be a people for His own possession and Ambassadors for Christ. (2 Kings 17) July 28, 2019
