Is Hell Real?

Sunday Feb 22, 2015

Sunday Feb 22, 2015

Jesus clearly taught that we will either spend eternity with God in heaven or spend eternity separate from God in hell. The reality of hell should motivate us to put our faith in Christ, should lead us to worship Christ for rescuing us from hell, and should encourage us to share the good news with unbelievers in our circle of influence. (Mark 9.42-48, February 22, 2015)

Am I a Stumbling Block?

Sunday Feb 15, 2015

Sunday Feb 15, 2015

Jesus spoke some very harsh words about Christians who live their lives in such a way as to influence others away from the gospel instead of drawing others towards Christ. It would be wise for us to ask the Lord whether or not we are a stumbling block. (Mark 9.42-50, February 15, 2015)

The Lord is My Keeper

Sunday Feb 08, 2015

Sunday Feb 08, 2015

Scripture memory is of great value, for as we meditate on Scripture it is profitable to us because it teaches us, encourages us, empowers us to endure, and gives us hope. For example, Psalm 121 teaches us that the LORD is our keeper and empowers us to hope in His watch care over our lives. (Psalm 121, February 8, 2015)

Christ’s Way to Greatness

Sunday Feb 01, 2015

Sunday Feb 01, 2015

According to Christ, the way to greatness in the Kingdom of God is to be last of all and to be a servant of all. This does not mean to serve “some” and to put “some” before us. But Christ is clear, the “all” includes even those whom we assume are behind us in line or should be behind us in line. Very soon, the Lord will give us an opportunity to practice Christ’s way to greatness by serving all and being last of all. May we be ready and obedient. (Mark 9.33-37, February 1, 2015)

Sunday Jan 25, 2015

The battle to understand the gospel is a spiritual battle, and as ambassadors for Christ, we must struggle to make the mystery of the gospel clear to a culture that is under attack to accept the assumption of a naturalistic worldview. But there are some simple and effective ways that we can help our unbelieving friends to question the lies of the enemy and to become open to the gospel. (Mark 9.30-32, January 25, 2015)

Sunday Jan 18, 2015

Prayer, the fact that we can draw near to the presence of God and submit our request, is an amazing gift. And in Mark 9, Jesus speaks those powerful words that "all things are possible for the one who believes." What might the Lord say to us through the Scriptures about prayer? (Mark 9.14-29, January 18, 2015)

Monday Jan 12, 2015

Peter was one of the three fortunate disciples chosen to witness the moment when Jesus was transfigured on the mountain. But as awesome as that moment was, and it must have been life changing for Peter, we have something greater still? What could possibly be greater than seeing Jesus transformed before our very eyes? (Mark 9.1-13, January 11, 2015)

Sunday Jan 04, 2015

Jesus sure didn't make it easy to join His team! For those who want to apply to be one of His followers, Jesus set the bar very high and very deep: self denial, the pain of death, the loss of life. Jesus certainly came to bring life, and life eternal, but His grace is not cheap. No wonder the gate is narrow and few are those who find the way. Join us as we explore the truths of what it means to be a follower of Christ. (Mark 8.31-38; January 4, 2015)

Sunday Dec 21, 2014

One of the most familiar elements in the story of the birth of Christ is the visit of the "wise men" who brought gifts for the newborn king. But the fact that God led this particular group of people to Bethlehem is quite remarkable, and it tells us much about the God who sent His Son to be our Savior. (Matthew 2.1-12, December 21, 2014)

Sunday Dec 14, 2014

The Lord chose to publicly the announce the birth of the Messiah to an unlikely group, to a group of shepherds. And while one angel was good enough to visit Mary, and one angel was good enough to visit Joseph, the Lord sent a "heavenly host" to visit the shepherds. Why did an angel army announce that God was bringing "peace on earth" with the advent of the messiah? (Luke 2.8-20, December 14,2014)
